Bobi is designed for children aged approximately 2–4, and is therefore subject to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation including Article 8 (GDPR-K), and Google Play's Families policy. We have built the app so that the simplest way to comply is also what we actually do: collect nothing.
Your child's progress — levels completed, stars, badges, skill scores, the chosen language, sound settings and the name you may type in the parents' area — is stored in the app's own storage on the device. It is not uploaded to us or to anyone else. Deleting the app deletes it. If your device has Android Backup enabled, Android may include this data in your own Google Drive backup; that backup belongs to you, and we have no access to it.
On launch the app reads a single public document that says which version is current. The request contains no information about you or your child. If it fails for any reason, the app simply continues.
If you buy the full version, the purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or receive your payment details. Google processes the transaction under Google's own privacy policy, and the Google Play Billing library included in the app sends its own operational data to Google as part of that service.
If you were given an unlock code and enter it, the app checks that the code is valid and records that it has been used, so that one code unlocks one device. To do this it stores an irreversible cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of the Android device identifier against that code. This value cannot be turned back into the identifier, is not linked to any personal information, and is used solely to prevent a single code being reused — a purpose permitted under COPPA's "support for internal operations" exception. If you never enter a code, this never happens.
Instructions are read aloud using the text-to-speech engine built into your device. The app hands the text to be spoken to the operating system; whether that engine processes speech locally or on a server is determined by your device's own settings and by the provider of that engine, not by us. No audio is recorded and the microphone is never used.
Bobi contains no advertising of any kind, no cross-promotion of other apps, and no links that lead a child out of the game. The only external link is the store page for updates, and it sits behind an adult-verification step.
Everything that could lead to a payment is placed behind a press-and-hold gate lasting three seconds — a deliberate action a toddler will not complete. Payment itself always goes through Google Play's own flow, which applies whatever authentication you have configured on your account.
Because we hold no personal data, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct or delete on your behalf. You can erase everything the app has stored at any time from the parents' area ("Reset Progress"), or by uninstalling the app. If you have redeemed an unlock code and would like the associated hash removed, email us and we will delete that record.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what the app collects, we will update the date at the top of this page and describe the change here. We will not begin collecting personal data without a new policy and, where required, verifiable parental consent.
